Event For Obama Brings Music With Message
DAYTON, Oh. (11/27/07) - In his book, "The Audacity of Hope," Barack Obama writes that his "general impatience with life" led him to run for his first political office in the Illinois State Legislature.
That same impatience has catapulted him into the middle of one of the most expensive and contentious presidential campaigns the nation has ever seen.
Earlier this year, candidate Obama announced his gospel music tour of the nation, Embrace the Change. At 6p.m today, Barack Gospel….A Worship Experience streams into Fairfield's Koinonia Events Center, 25 Donald Drive, Fairfield, showcasing Dayton's award-winning gospel quartet New Harvest, Stellar Award nominee Marcus Cole and many others.
The question for the show's organizer, Bruce Knight, is if the candidate himself will show up.
"No," Knight said. "He told me his schedule won't permit an appearance that day, but we will show videos of him on the campaign trail." Knight said the primary goal of Barack Gospel is to recruit voters.
"This is a community an idea I came up with and pursued it with his acknowledgement. I just wanted to provide in-depth information on the Senator's platform for his historic run for the presidency."
Barack Gospel is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be available along with a voter registration booth, artist product tables and Obama campaign materials. Call (513) 898-9829 for more information.
